Broken Witness - Slain Within review:

Okai, I kinda opened this with slight intimidation as I do with all new music, I'm cautious in case it's an anti-climax against what the advertising/logos etc suggest, with this, the name kinda reminded me of a horror film/feature length tv program, yet I knew there had to be something awesome to be had - I wasn't wrong!

As the first few beats kick in, wham, my ears are on glorious fire, an ear-ripping scream hits me first, then the vocals rip in milliseconds after..& the first similar band that flashed into my head, was a higher vocal version of Lamb Of God, that band I adore, specially the song Redneck, albeit this song is practically nothing like that song, granted, but still, that's my first take.  Okai, the lyrics as with all these bands has to be read for some people who won't be able to make them out[or maybe that's just me LOL], I can't hear my tv at the best of times, that said I know a good sound when I hear it.  The speeding drum beat that's present through most of this track, in with the nice soft drum beat giving it a lovely-timed rhythem has my head bopping at a steady rate, and I'm now on my 3rd repeat of the track, I'm loving this clearly!  Another nice addition I notice is the rather melodic guitar solo after the throaty, deep growl of their vocalist with the lovely drumming build up, is fucking awesome! I can almost see the guitarist placing his fingers perfectly along the neck of his 'tar, fast yet well timed - damn, I can't put this track down.

Overall a lovely piece of Death Metallic Black Metal work here, people, I'd definitely check out more of Broken Witness's music, and if it carries on like this, BUY it!!

With a wide musical background, Broken Witness came together as friends of former bands which have had the pleasure to share the stage and a beer with one another. With excellent stage experience and talented musicians, Broken Witness are ready to add that element that today's metal is missing!

Faith In Violence - You Made Your Bed (Now Lie In It) Review

So, I was sent a track from Faith In Violence, and asked to write a review, hmmmm!?Now I'm the first to admit, I tread very carefully when trying new music, intimidated to an extent, BUT, that said, I do press that play button with my eyes closed and jump off the edge of 'Careful' and dive in there - and with this track, I'm glad I did once again!!

The first thing I notice, is the slow guitar start, nice, usually I wonder what's gonna hit me when I hear that, specially if I'm in the mood for something like Black or Death Metal, but then again, if I've sat listening to that for a good hour, I like to wind down my eardrum damage with something lighter, and this is perfect for that. Of course it's also perfect if you like a bit of heavy rock as well but with a light and heavy'ish vocal touch, which I do anyway, so luckily that bodes well LOL. I kid, with the opening which reminds me slightly of BFMV's acoustic start on Tears Don't Fall, I get then get a slight reminder of Blitz Kids - Run For Cover with a bit more of a 'scatty' edge, which gives me a thought of the band[FIV]running along a street having some mosh-type fun along the way, which is good, it makes it a fun, bouncy track. There is another band they remind me of, and I can't think which it is, no doubt it'll come to me when I'm done typing which is a typical bitch/Sod's law type thing! The lyrics are also I'd describe as melodic shouty, but also have a slight scream edge in some parts, which overall make it a nice listen with all sorts of elements worked in, which has my head bopping in appreciation, and perhaps when I'm more awake, in a hyper mood, bouncing around with a slight headbang. I'll definitely be checking out more of FIV's music though, and if they carry on with this sound, be buying future tracks, I like, and I'd reccomend to other Rock fans for sure!
